TCPA Basics

About this site

TCPA Basics is the simplest explanation of the TCPA and what a demand letter means for your business. Short pages, plain words, every figure tied to the statute.

So the people who made this site are on the other side of the letter you may be holding. We say that first because you should know it before you read anything else here.

Why it exists

Most explanations of the TCPA are written for lawyers. The business owner who opens a demand letter needs something simpler: what the law is, why the letter came, what it could cost, and what happens next. That is all this site is.

What it is not

It is not legal advice. It is general information about the law. A lawyer licensed in your state can tell you what to do about your own letter.

It does not rate or recommend law firms or companies that send letters. It does not tell you what to do about any particular sender.

Where the facts come from

The law itself, 47 U.S.C. § 227. The FCC's rules, 47 C.F.R. § 64.1200. Florida's law, Fla. Stat. § 501.059. The four-year time limit, 28 U.S.C. § 1658. The Supreme Court's 2021 decision in Facebook v. Duguid. The FCC's 2024 ruling on computer-made voices. The links at the bottom of every page go to the official text.

Updated 2026-11-03. Every figure links to the statute so you can check it yourself.
